Detecting bed bugs can be a difficult thing due to their small size and ability to hide in crevices and cracks. But the signs of the presence of bed bugs can be seen on mattresses and bedding. Clusters of dark brown or black on dried excrement indicates the activity of live bed bugs on an infested area. The presence of bed bugs is also accompanied by a peculiar odor.

Bed bugs can be seen where people are always found therefore they stay hidden in crevices and cracks close to where people sleep due to their small size. Mattresses, headboards, foot boards, box springs, bed frames and furniture which are 5 to 8 feet away from the bed are their usual place of habitation. They can as well be found in floor molding, window door molding, cracks, cracks on walls and at the edges of carpets. However, when the population of bed bugs becomes so much in a place they tend to migrate to places where they are less likely to seen. They can be easily seen in places free of their dwelling previously.
