How It Works
Our perfected rodent repellent effectively repels by including a variety of highly potent, deterring aromas. Rodent MACE™ gives off a fresh minty scent, that mice can’t stand! The smell is pleasant to humans but repulsive to rodents. It is a commercial grade product developed for pest control applicators, now available to the public. The mice not only go away, but they also stay away! Rodent’s acute sense of smell detect the granular repellent before they enter an area and naturally avoid it.
Directions for Use
Be sure to close container tightly after use. Seek out entry points, runways, and nests. For first application, apply Rodent MACE™ Granular heavily and directly to areas rodents may enter, feed, or hide. Re-apply weekly, or as product’s scent fades, to maintain control. Apply monthly as a preventative measure. Re-apply after frequent or heavy rainfall.
If you are trying to protect a specific thing, such as a trashcan or entryway, use a perimeter application by creating a 1-3-inch-wide band around area/thing to be protected.
Rodent Proofing Tips
The more things you can do to prevent rodents, the better. The idea is to make your home as unappealing as possible to rodents, giving them no reasons to invade.
Thoroughly inspect and seal up any holes, cracks, crevices, or openings that mice may enter through. Fill in gaps located behind appliances, around utility lines, under porches, by windows, vents, and doors. Fill these in completely with steel wool or silicone caulk.
Mice rely heavily on their sense of smell and can easily find their way in for a meal. Remove any food sources that are sitting out. Try to package everything in sealed containers or glass jars. Pay attention to uncovered trash cans, table scraps, crumbs, child bedrooms, pet food, fallen bird seed, and more. Remove any indoor or outdoor clutter or material that rodents may be nesting in. Vacuum and or clean up the areas. Clean up any rodent droppings. Clean up outdoor droppings from your garden or fruit trees.
As an added step, you may want to consider adopting or buying a cat. Their presence and scent alone will naturally serve as a deterrent. You should notice a decrease in rodents. Note that some cat breeds are better than others at controlling mice.
If you have rodents in your home, it is best to first trap or remove them and then use our Rodent MACE repellent to prevent their return. You can use our repellents alongside humane traps, to discourage and prevent their re-entry. Release the caught mice a good distance away from your home.
For easy use and cleanup in tight confined areas, (such as closets, laundry rooms, kitchens, in-between appliances) cut small holes in a paper bag. Add 2 ounces of granular product to paper bag and place in problem areas. Replace paper bag contents weekly for maximum effectiveness. Some customers have also found success in using ladies’ stockings and other DIY containers. You can also buy the liquid Rodent MACE to spray on and refresh the granular pellets.
If you decide to use baits, place the food (bait) away from the area where the repellent is applied. A starving mice may smell the food and bypass the repellent. Be patient and give our repellent time to work. Apply more heavily depending on the severity of the issue. On average, the more product you use and the greater the coverage, the better the results.
