Where to Use

You can safely and effectively use Squirrel MACE in any lawn or garden setting. It can be used on any flowers, flower beds, crops, shrubbery, tree bark, feeders, car wiring, outdoor decorative lighting, Christmas lighting, hoses, patio cushions, housing, siding, shingles, trash cans, and anywhere else squirrels are a nuisance. You even apply to outdoor pumpkins during Halloween! This product is not recommended for indoor use but can be applied in barns and attics. It can also be applied to tractor and equipment cabins. Squirrel MACE can be used to protect wire harnesses and can save you hundreds of dollars in possible damage.

Directions for Use

Shake well before every use. Apply daily for the first 7 days. Squirrel’s habits are difficult to break so initial applications should be frequent and heavy. Spray generously around and directly on areas squirrels are chewing or frequenting. To break a pattern of habitual behavior, the repellent may need to be applied more frequently. As animal’s behavior changes, application frequency may be reduced. Re-apply weekly. Repeat applications as necessary or for maintenance.

Squirrel MACE also works as a flower bulb protection spray. Cover the bulbs in a mild coating of repellent and let sit for 15 minutes. Let dry and replant. 

Reapply after frequent or heavy rainfall. Before spraying on objects such as outdoor furniture, painted surfaces, or decking, always test a small area for staining acceptability. Do not apply directly on ornamental, soft-bodied plants. Some plants may be too delicate for this spray. Instead, spray the flowerpot or surrounding soil. Avoid heavy spraying of plants and grass.

Automotive Use

Check the engine compartments and remove any nesting’s before applying. Use an air compressor to remove any food or clutter. If there are signs of rodents, thoroughly wash the area with soap and water to prevent them from returning.

For vehicle protection, including but not limited to, cars, trucks, tractors, boats, motor homes, etc. Spray onto engine compartments, wheel wells, wirings, and anywhere else you can reach. Spray around the outside of the vehicle to establish a perimeter.

Application Tips

Remove all food sources. If anyone around is feeding squirrels, kindly ask them to stop. A starving squirrel may bypass the repellent to obtain food (including bird seed). This repellent can be used to protect bird feeders, but do not expect 10/10 results. For patio furniture protection, consider spraying a sponge, towel, or paper towels with the repellent and placing it behind each seat cushion.

To help prevent squirrels from eating seed from feeders, consider adding food grade chili powder, capsaicin, or cayenne/habanero pepper to the bird seed. Birds are not capable of sensing the spice whist mammals are. You can do this yourself, just be sure to wear gloves and follow the necessary precautions. You can also consider using traps to relocate the squirrels.

Apply more heavily depending on the severity of the issue. For larger areas, and for when squirrels are more persistent, we recommend the concentrated formulas.
