Which insect would you consider as the fastest sprinter? Ant, roaches, flea, or the annoying blood sucking bed bug? Well the truth is, bed bugs are way down the table of world’s fastest insects. Not to say they move sluggishly – just that their crawling speed isn’t particularly impressive. Averagely, an adult bed bug moves at a pace of 4 feet per minute. This speed is sufficient enough to keep them save from an aggressor. Ever tried killing a bug before? Catching them while on the run wasn’t a walk in the park, was it?

Aside their rather slow moving pace, there are several other interesting facts about bed bugs. Below are some of them

  • A female bug during her life time will mate with one of her offspring. One female bug alone is capable of producing as much as 250 eggs. 21 days is enough for a newly laid egg to develop into an adult. One of offspring will eventually get to mate with his mother someday.
  • Once hatched, a nymph bug takes a white to yellowish colour. The red to brown colour only develops after the nymph has taken her first blood meal.
