Nature’s MACE™ goes to work fast repelling hungry herbivores with a two-pronged approach that combines scent and fear cues into one powerful granular deer repellent.

• Smell Barrier – A potent, mint-forward aroma derived from essential oils overwhelms the herbivores nose and forms the first line of defense.

• Fear Response – Protein-based ingredients mimic danger cues in a deer’s environment. These ingredients release a sulfur-like scent that deer and rabbits instinctively link to predators. This "warning signal" triggers a flight reaction to keep deer away before feeding can begin.

Yes, it can be applied directly to all types of plant foliage and is safe for use in gardening. It does not harm deer, rabbits, wildlife, plants or trees, (when used as directed). We recommend applying it to the ground and surrounding areas of edible plants. Avoid getting it on edible parts. Always thoroughly rinse any produce, such as fruits or vegetables, before consuming them.

Yes, it is effective year-round. The best time to apply is at the start of each growing season. After a long winter, deer are eager to eat fresh growth. Apply in early spring to protect seedlings, shoots, and sprouts before blooms start. Be sure to apply to seedlings and new growth right when they emerge.

One application lasts about 30-40 days under normal rainfall. Deer are creatures of habit. If you notice deer activity in winter, they are likely to return in spring. Although plants are mostly dormant, deer will eat them and weaken spring growth. They act as winter repellents, preventing browsing, nibbling, harmful rubbings, and overall plant damage. Applying during winter can serve as a preventative measure, allowing you to apply it less frequently, about once every 2 months, due to the reduced plant foliage.

Absolutely. Layering the two forms is the fastest, most fool-proof way to stop browsing and keep it from coming back. Nature's MACE™ repellent sprays are great for covering larger areas and for protecting mid to upper-level plants, such as trees and bushes. The topical spray coats leaves, stems, flowers, and branches.

DIRECTIONS

Identify the areas needing protection or those showing signs of deer and rabbit damage, such as torn leaves, missing flowers, crushed or trampled plants, and visible droppings. Note the entry paths used by deer to access the property and apply heavily to those areas. To block common deer entry paths, lay down two strips of granules, each 5 feet apart.

For the first application, apply Deer and Rabbit MACE Granular heavily and evenly 18-inches away from flowerbeds, landscaped ornamentals, gardens, ground cover, and edibles in danger of animal browsing. Create a barrier approximately 20-inches wide around groups of plants, ensuring it is heavy enough to be seen. You may also sprinkle the granules between individual plants for added protection. To sustain effectiveness, reapply every 30-40 days. In regions with more severe browsing activity, heavier or more frequent applications may be necessary, with barriers widened to 30 inches. This strategy aims to condition animals to avoid your garden and landscaped areas. Following snowfall, break up the snow's crust and reapply. Reapply after heavy or extended rainfalls.

For Larger Areas or Plots: Apply Deer and Rabbit MACE Granular in a 24” wide protective strip/barrier around the protective zone. Then, apply 18” wide interior strips inside the protective zone, spaced every 20-25 feet apart.

Not what i was expecting

I am in a war with rabbits destroying my lawn in Arizona. I've tried a lot of products and was really hopeful with this one. I didn't find it really did much of anything. Found rabbits right where I applied this (heavily) within a week.
It was a little challenging to apply with a normal lawn spreader, ended up putting it down a bit more heavily than the prescribed directions. Only tried it the one time due to being a large area and the cost. $125 didnt quite cover my front lawn. I'm not doing that every week or something.

Hi Marc,
Thank you so much for your feedback, and we truly understand the frustration of dealing with persistent rabbits—especially in tough regions like Arizona. We're sorry to hear you didn't get the results you were hoping for on the first application.

Because our repellents are made with naturally derived ingredients, they typically require a short break-in period to condition the area. We usually recommend starting with our liquid Rabbit MACE, which is more cost-effective for initial saturation. Daily applications for the first 7 days help build up strong scent and taste barriers. After that, you can reduce to weekly, biweekly, or even monthly maintenance—depending on the level of rabbit pressure in your area.

We also understand that treating larger spaces can be challenging and are actively working to offer more economical options for wider coverage. If you’re still open to trying again, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team. We’d be happy to help you make the most of the product and honor our satisfaction guarantee. Your success is important to us, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
