Product Details

Cat MACE granular cat repellent works by training and repelling stray and domestic cats. It uses potent scents to discourage cat chewing, digging, and rummaging. This helps prevent cats from uprooting plants, digging in flowerbeds, and ruining landscapes. It's easy to use! With regular application, you’ll teach stray and domestic cats to stay clear of the protected areas.

Cats are creatures of habit and require both humane and aggressive deterring. Our rain-resistant granular cat repellent provides long-lasting and all-season protection from stray and domestic cats. With Cat MACE you can potentially avoid a battle with your neighbors and a lasting headache. There is no need to set up traps or get the humane society/animal control involved. Its formula packs a mighty cat punch and contains an effective blend of biobased cat-deterring ingredients. Regain control and put an end to your annoying cat issue! Anyone can use Cat MACE.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see the answer to your question? contact us!

  • Cat MACE is a humane, plant-based solution that is safe for cats when used as directed. It is also safe for use around other pets and wildlife, including birds and squirrels.

  • It depends. Cat MACE functions as a training tool and may require time and repeated applications to achieve the desired results. While it can repel cats instantly upon contact, do not expect immediate or conclusive results from just one or two applications—It is not a magical solution. Consistent and proper application, following the directions, is essential. Since every cat and situation is different, the product should be used repeatedly and strategically until the cat develops a negative association with it or changes its undesirable behavior.

  • The ingredients in Cat MACE granular are safe for plants, when used as directed. Made from plant-based ingredients that naturally break down over time, it leaves no long-term effects on your plants or yard. You can use it worry free in any season for continuous, year-round protection.

  • Cat MACE emits a cinnamon and garlicky aroma that is tolerable to humans but naturally irritating to cats. Cats find the smell and taste of Cat MACE unpleasant and will avoid treated areas, seeking less bothersome environments.

  • If a cat accidentally ingests Cat MACE, it is usually not harmful due to the plant-based nature of the product. However, mild digestive upset—such as vomiting or diarrhea—may occur. We recommend monitoring your pet for any unusual symptoms. If you notice any adverse reactions or have concerns, please immediately consult your veterinarian for guidance.

Nature's MACE product being used outdoors

How to Use

Apply the granules by spreading them evenly over the area you wish to protect. Start with a generous, heavy application within and around the designated zones. Apply early when you first notice cat activity. Note that if a cat has already marked the territory as its own, it may attract more cats. Re-apply as needed or until cats are trained to stay clear of protected areas. For ongoing maintenance, reapply every two to three weeks. Applications and results can vary depending on how ingrained cats’ habits are and how often they visit an area. Whether or not it is a domestic or stray cat may affect product results.

For Potted Plants: Cat MACE can be applied directly to indoor and outdoor plants. Replace the dirt as sitting urine will likely attract cats. You can also dilute the urine by watering the plant for longer than usual (ensure adequate drainage). Thoroughly clean the pots and their surrounding areas. Also, consider laying down chicken wire or fencing over the soil to prevent cats from uprooting plants. For Garden Beds: Consider laying down mulch in and around plant beds. Consider using a mulch with, or adding to it, ingredients such as eggshells, nutshells, pinecones, tree bark, rocks, holly cuttings, or anything else rough, jagged, and irritating to cats’ paws.

This granular repellent shows mixed results. Many customers said it "works great" and effectively deters cats from gardens and flower beds when applied properly. However, numerous shoppers reported it didn't work, with cats ignoring or even sleeping in treated areas. Effectiveness may depend on application density and reapplication after rain.

  • Best stuff ever.
  • Works quickly and effectively
  • Worked the first application and continued to work for two, very rainy months.

This doesn’t work!

Your product doesn’t work! We paid our gardeners to remove dirt from our cedar garden box and put new dirt in and we spread your product over the dirt. Their cat was right back using my expensive cedar garden box for his cat box. My neighbors let the cat stay out all winter and my beautiful garden box we spent $3000 to have built is this cat’s litter box. I love animals, but I’m disgusted with my neighbors! Inconsiderate!

Hi Debie, Thanks for your review. I totally understand how frustrating this situation is. Please keep in mind our products are not instant action. We recommend daily application for ten days and then once a week or as needed for maintenance. You should notice the cats staying out of the garden bed after the first week or so. Please respond to connect with Customer Care. We are always happy to send more product so you can see better results.

Great product

I have used both the spray and the granules. Currently I am having a problem with neighborhood cats using my lovely landscaped front yard as a litter box. By using a combination of granules and spike mats it essentially eliminates cats from using the yard. Sprinkling the granules on a regular basis prevents the cats from coming back.

Didn’t work-almost catnip

Applied 6 pounds on Sunday to 3 beds-heavily applied. No cats Sunday. However, Monday it was almost like I put out catnip-6 cats in those beds acting wild-trying to crawl up my house-and running in and out of the beds.

Hi Jamie, Thanks for your review! Please keep in mind Cat MACE is not instant action. We recommend daily applications for ten days and then once a week therefter or as needed for maintenance. You will start to notice a difference in the cats behavior after the first week or so. Increased sniffing or rolling in the area is normal in the beginning. The cats are trying to figure out what it is and why it smells so bad.

They sleep in it

I put The whole bag out there, and they took naps in it. GARBAGE

Thank you for your review! Please keep in mind the Cat MACE is not an instant action solution and does take a few days of frequent reapplication in the beginning to establish the scent barrier and start seeing positive results. Please reach out to customer care to talk over application and tips and and tricks!

Gravel application

Did not prevent our cat from using a small area of our gravel driveway as a litter box. Was really hoping the Cat Mace would work but the cat acted like there was nothing there as it took a crap where I had applied the Cat Mace and continued to do so after the second application.

Hey Rick, Thanks for trying out our Cat MACE. We would love to speak with you and discuss some additional tips and tricks to see better results. Reach out to Lacie with Customer Care. (:

Makes a difference!

I've had trouble with strays going in my flower garden for years. I used Cat Mace the first time a few weeks ago. I sprinkled it around everything I wanted the strays to stay away from, and the number of cat prints and poop piles decreased dramatically! I've had to go over areas again where I realized I applied too lightly or narrowly to keep cats completely out; overall, I'm impressed with its effectiveness. When cat prints appear again in a few weeks as rains wear the mace down, I'll re-apply. Pleased with the product; will purchase again.

Cat's habits

It seems that this has become a habit for the cats who use my flower-bed as their poop-bed. They are smart enough to scratch off the top surface, and continue to use the bed as before. It has caused green flies, worms, bugs, gnats, ants, and it stinks. I've use the liquid for 4 days now. It has not worked. :( The glandules did not work either. I'm trying some home remedies now. If it doesn't rain they may work.

Best product ever!

This worked the first application and continued to work for two, very rainy months. It does have an oder that isn't unpleasant. Use caution when applying so you don't inhale the dust and you will be very pleased with this product.

Cat Mace worked good

The Cat Mace worked good for me. I just need to get more. We did have some rain and I believe that didn’t help but we need the rain. I live in FL the North Central part. I will be ordering more as soon as I have the extra money. I’m glad I tried your product

Giving it time still, but it seems effective

We've been having some days of consistent rain, but I am noticing a difference. The cats are clearly determined, but I've only seen new disturbances only after the ground has soaked through. But on days when it's drier, and I've had the chance to sprinkle it, the ground seems undisturbed. I'm pleased to see the change! I'll continue to treat the areas.
